Senior Treasury and Ministry of Health officials will on Wednesday be arraigned at the Makadara Anti-Corruption Law Courts in Nairobi to answer to charges of conspiring to manipulate the tender for the supply of medicine worth 44 million shillings.
In a press statement, the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC) says the accused officials allegedly favored Excelsior Mihaso Limited to supply 50,000 packs of amoxicillin 250-milligram capsules, despite failing to be the lowest evaluated tender.
The anti-graft body says the accused failed to comply with the Exchequer and Audit Public Procurement Regulations of 2001.
Among the accused listed by KACC are the Principal Accounts Controller in the Ministry of Finance, a Senior Principal Procurement Officer in the Ministry of Health, a Director of Excelsior Mihaso Limited and members of the 2004 Ministerial Tender Committee in the Ministry of Health.
