Kenya's performance at the 36th IAAF World Cross Country Championships held Sunday in Edinburgh, Scotland has received mixed reactions from countrymen here at home.
The national team which failed to win individual titles is expected to return home Monday night after winning two team titles and retain the overal title they won last year in Mombasa.
The slippery muddy conditions of Holyrood Park course in Edinburgh,Scotland is one which Kenyan athletes would like to forget in a hurry.
No individual gold was won by Kenyan athletes who were relegated to the sidelines by arch rivals Ethiopian.
Ethiopia's return to glory after a failed campaign in Mombasa last year saw them clinch their first ever sweep of the four individual titles the 6km junior women, 8km junior men, 8km senior women and 12 km senior men races.
The last time such a feat was achieved was in 1994 when Kenya's William Sigei (Men), Hellen Chepngeno (Women), Philip Mosima (Jnr men) and Sally Barsosio (Jnr Women) occupied all the top steps of the World Cross Country podium.
While Kenya won both the men's titles, Ethiopia bagged the women's title.
Despite the performance the Kenyan team is said to be in high spirits after retaining the overall title ahead of Ethiopia who settled for the 2nd spot.
