The national youth athletics team is set to leave the country Sunday for Bressanone, Italy to take part in the world Youth athletics championships which will be held between the 8th and 12th of this month.
Nelly Chebet who was a member of the Kenyan team at this year's world cross country championships in Amman Jordan will lead the team of 21 junior athletes at this year's world youth championships in Italy.
Chebet who also won bronze medal in last years' world junior championships in Poland promised to bring good results in Italy.
Kenya will for the first time field an athlete in 100 metres race. Some of the athletes in the team include 3000 metres steeplechase world junior champion Jonathan Muia Ndiku, Jackline Chepng'eno, Victor Oseko who will run in the 100 metres race and Purity Cherotich.
Kenya won the inaugural edition in Poland and they are ready again to conquer the world in the four day event in Italy which begins on the 8th of this month.
The team will be accompanied by eight officials headed by Athletics Kenya vice chairman Paul Mutwi.
Kenya finished 2nd overall in the last edition held in Ostrava, Czech Republic behind winners USA.
Elsewhere, the national Rugby 15 aside team left the country Sunday for the Confederation of Africa Rugby tournament which will kick off on the 8th of this month through to the 12th in Casablanca, Morocco.
The 15 aside team will be aiming to regain the top spot in the 15's rugby scene in the continent having faded in the recent past.
Kenya will have to claim the scalp of Senegal with whom they are pooled in the Northern Zone which also consists hosts Morocco and Cameroon.
The winner in each of the fixture will set up a final duel against the victor from the Northern Pool which has Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Madagascar.
If Kenya overcomes the opposition of Senegal then that will earn them points and a push in the IRB rankings and will also keep them in the race for the continental championship which has reigning African champions Uganda and Tunisia.
The side will be captained by Impala player Innocent Simiyu, sevens regulars Wilson Kopondo, Ben Nyambu and Gibson Weru.
Kenya play Senegal in the opener on Wednesday while the hosts tackle Cameroon.
The final is next Saturday.
Kenya were third last year in Madagascar after they beat Cote d'Ivoire 22-10.
