The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights now alleges that slain Mungiki spokesman Njuguna Gitau Njuguna was shot dead by the police.

Addressing the press at the commission's headquarters in Nairobi Friday, Vice chairman Hassan Omar Hassan said that the late Njuguna visited their office on October 16th this year to report that his life was in danger.

Omar alleged that the murder was planned and executed in the most inhuman way and called on the government to seriously investigate the murder.

Njuguna a father of three was gunned down by unknown assailants inside a mobile shop in the city's Luthuli Avenue on Thursday.

His death comes a day after Mungiki leader Maina Njenga said his life was in danger.

Internal Security PS Francis Kimemia said on Thursday reports from his officers on the ground had indicated that Njuguna had been arguing about money with two other men.

Elsewhere, two suspected Mungiki sect members have been shot dead by administration police officers in Isinya area in Kajiado North District.

Kajiado OCPD Francis Sang' says the two were among a group of thirty people found in an iron sheet structure, where they are believed to have been taking an oath.

He says residents noticed the suspicious group and alerted the area Chief Philip Kironga, who went to the structure accompanied by three administration police officers.

The OCPD says the group initially locked themselves in the structure when the security team arrived but later emerged and confronted the police.

He says the officers were forced to open, fire killing two of the suspects, while the rest fled.

Sang says police recovered seven pangas, a members' register, tobacco, a Bible, several kilograms of mutton as well as a Nissan Sunny vehicle.

The bodies of the two suspects have been taken to the Kajiado District Hospital Mortuary.
