Written By:Hallygan Agade   , Posted: Fri, Nov 06, 2009

There are only 216 days remaining before the biggest football extravaganza the world cup finals to be staged in South Africa for the 1st time.

And the Coca-cola world cup tour which started in Zurich will witness the real solid gold world cup trophy land in Kenya for the first time next Thursday.

Coca Cola Company in collaboration with World soccer governing body FIFA embarked on a world cup trophy global tour in Zurich which has already covered 36,000 kilometers in total.

After traversing West, North and central Africa, the trophy will land in Kenya on the 12th of this month and thereafter be paraded at the Nyayo National stadium on Saturday the 14th where the fans will get a lifetime opportunity to see the real trophy and have a souvenir photo with it.

Nairobi bottlers' officer in charge of planning Ampher Apidi reckons the tour will be an opportunity for the government to market Kenya internationally.

The first time the Coca cola Company signed an agreement with FIFA for the global tour was in 2006 when the finals were held in Germany.

That time the tour only included three African countries among the Nigeria and Tanzania, but this time round the trophy will criss-cross all the 53 nations of Africa except Somalia due to security reasons.

The event which will be held at the Nyayo stadium Nairobi will be brought to you Live courtesy of KBC channel one.
