Reigning Kenya national basketball champions Kenya Ports Authority- KPA- will take on ABC of Ivory Coast Tuesday in their 3rd match of the on going 15th edition of the FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women in Cotonou Benin.
KPA started the competition on a high note defeating hosts Energie of Benin 70-32.
KPA took advantage of their inexperienced opponents and won all four quarters thanks to Joyce Memba who scored 14 points and Dorcas Anyango who scored 13 points.
KPA however faltered in their 2nd match losing 54-47 to A'Politecnica of Mozambique.
According to an official from the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Mr. Sylvan Mghanga, a total of 10 teams are participating in the event, with two teams from the Democratic Republic of Congo withdrawing at the last minute.
Kenya falls under Africa Zone five of the Federation of International Basketball Association(FIBA) and is being represented by the KPA team.
In other matches Desportivo of Mozambique beat First Deepwater of Nigeria 72-52, Inter Club of Angola beat Sporting club of Egypt 77-37, First Bank of Nigeria beat ABC of Ivory Coast 57-56.
In other matches scheduled CSA of Ivory Coast will meet Desportivo of Mozambique , First Bank of Nigeria will take on Energie of Benin while First Deepwater of Nigeria clash with Sporting club of Egypt.
