KFA gets a strategic partner

The Kenya Farmers Association (KFA) has found a strategic partner who will assist in reviving the organization as well as repaying its debts owed to financial institutions.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday at KFA's Eldoret office a director with the organization Kipkorir Menjo said the revival of the KFA will be of great benefit to farmers who have been getting farm inputs on loan from the organization.

He said the organization which has assets worth billions will also sell part of its non core assets to assist the partner who he declined to disclose in repaying the loan.

The organization has been embroiled with the national bank of Kenya which has threatened to sell it to recover their loan running into over sh.400 million.

Farmers from the area have been accusing influential persons in the government of pushing the bank to auction it.

Menjo called on the government to resolve the issue of the appointment of a new Managing Director of Kenya Seed saying the company is crucial to the farming community in the supply of seeds.

He appealed to the government to come to the aid of wheat farmers who rely on millers to buy their products and who are now kept waiting for days before their produce is bought.
