The Chairman of the African Union Panel of African Personalities Kofi Annan is expected in the country Wednesday.

During his seven day visit, Annan will meet President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga to review the progress of the implementation of the Kenya National Dialogue and Reconciliation process.

Annan, who will be joined by Panel Member Graca Machel, will also hold discussions on the reform agenda with members of the Dialogue Team, political personalities, representatives of the civil society, religious leaders, the business community, envoys and other stakeholders.

In a press statement, the AU Secretariat says the former UN Secretary General is also scheduled  to chair a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Nairobi based Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa.

The former UN boss last visited the country in October where he engaged the government, lobby groups, religious groups and the business community over the progress made in the reforms, especially those under Agenda Four of the National Accord.

Annan described the pace of reform as slow but 'satisfactory'.

He however warned of a crisis of confidence the people had with the government.

Annan visits the country barely a week after the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Luis Moreno-Ocampo asked pre-trial judges to allow a formal probe of Kenya's post-election violence with a view to trying those responsible.
