17 eminent personalities honored

Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has asked Kenyans to avoid blame game in the ongoing constitutional making process and instead support the efforts undertaken by parliamentarians towards realization of the new document.

Mr. Musyoka expressed confidence that the country is in the right path to transformation and positive change for the better despite decades of elusive constitutional writing process.

"This process is in critical stage and it is my believe that parliament  through dialogue  and consensus building, is able to deliberate on various issues in the document and provide leadership towards the realization of a new constitution", VP said.

The Vice President was speaking during the conferment of honorary Professorship and Doctorate Degrees to eminent personalities by the United Graduate College and Seminary of the United States of America, held at the Charter Hall, Nairobi.

During the ceremony 17 personalities including the Nairobi industrialist Manu Chandaria, former Nairobi Mayors, Joe Aketch and Nathan Kahara among others were honored.

Congratulating the graduands, the Vice President challenged them to take an active role as agents of change and prosperity for the nation.

Mr. Musyoka urged Kenyans to shun negative ethnicity and instead embrace the spirit of forgiveness, national healing and reconciliation.

He asked leaders to   be at the forefront in helping Kenyans realize national aspiration and development.

"Let us walk the talk and help our citizens attain their aspiration. We are in a position to progress and be an example of a great nation in the African continent", VP added.

The Vice President said Kenya has great potential to be a favorable business and investment destination in the region.

Among the guests was the Speaker of the National Assembly, Kenneth Marende, who urged Kenyans to participate fully in the ongoing constitutional making process by offering their vies through their parliamentary representatives.

The graduation sermon was delivered by the Chief Chancellor (Kenya), Rev. Bishop Arthur Gitonga assisted by Prof. Rivers of the University.
