Post primary school teachers have issued a 21 day notice to strike following failure by the ministry of education to address their problem.
The teachers on Sunday called on the government to harmonize their salaries with that of civil servants but their demands have not been met.
Kenya union of post primary education teachers-KUPPET said they issued notice of the strike to the Ministry of education on Friday.
The union said teachers currently serving in job group J and above were determined to will withdraw their services until the deal to harmonize their salaries is sealed.
"Following fruitless constant appeals to the Ministers of education and the Teachers Service Commission to open talks with us on the harmonization of teacher's salaries with those of the public/civil servants during the last five months, and now being put under intense pressure from our members" said the KUPPET secretary general Njeru Kanyamba.
Kanyamba added, "We wish to confirm that last friday September 5, we served the Minister for basic education Professor Sam Ongeri and Minister for higher education Dr. Sally Kosgey with a 21 days notice to strike"
The strike is due on 26th of this month a few weeks to national school examinations.
