Team Kenya finished 14th overall and 3rd in Africa as the curtains came down on the 21st edition of the commonwealth games in Gold Coast, Australia.

Kenyan athletes missed out on medals in the final event of the athletics calendar, after performing dismally in the men’s and women’s marathon.

Defending champion Michael Shalley won the men’s marathon in a race that saw Callum Hawkins collapsing two kilometers to the finish.

Uganda’s Solomon Mutai bagged silver while Scotland’s Robbie Thompson settled for bronze.
