LG Electronics is now tapping into the online space with the launch of an independent e-commerce channel.
This official online store for LG Electronics will offer the same products as in-store, giving customers access to a wide range of home appliances and electronics including refrigerators, microwaves, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, televisions, audio systems, dish washers and air conditioners among others.
By opening the store, the company is increasing its products’ availability beyond the physical stores and comes against the backdrop of consumers’ increased access to the internet through mobile phone technology as well as a fast-growing middle class.
Experts say Kenya’s electronic commerce market is primed for major growth in the next five years as mobile internet performance continues to improve, and people become more comfortable with digital transactions.
According to Internet World Stats, an international website that features up to date world internet usage statistics, Kenya’s internet penetration in March this year was at 77.8%, with number of internet users having grown from 200,000 in December 2010 to 37,718,560.
“We are thrilled to launch online shopping in Kenya,” says Janghoon Chung, Managing Director East and Central Africa. “This significant milestone fully rounds out LG’s multichannel offering. Along with seven retail stores and products available in major supermarkets, our customers in Kenya will now have twenty-four-hour access to the best of our innovative, genuine and quality products via their computers, smartphones, and tables from anywhere in the country.
At just a click of a button, customers will be able to enjoy free delivery service across the country and two-year warranty on all products.
Additionally, the online brand shop will provide its customers one-year free insurance for products valued from shs60,000. Payment will be made on delivery.
