The first match on Group ‘B’ in the ongoing CECAFA senior challenge cup ended on a barren draw after Uganda and Burundi failed to score against each other at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County.
Uganda, the defending champions were tipped to emerge victorious against Burundi side which has never won the title but reached the final in 2004 only to lose to hosts Ethiopia by three goals to nil in Addis Ababa.
Former AFC Leopards forward Alan Kateregga was on the lineup for Uganda while former Sofapaka striker Abdoul Fiston led the Burundians in striking efforts.
Uganda will next play against South Sudan this Thursday at the same venue while Burundi will lock horns with Ethiopia.
Meanwhile, National soccer team Harambee Stars will seek to continue its good form in the CECAFA senior challenge cup as they host Libya today (Tuesday) evening at Machakos County stadium.
Stars under head coach Paul Put, humbled Rwanda 2-0 in a Group ‘A’ match opener at Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega County.

Paul Put is likely to use the squad that featured in the game against Rwanda that included goalkeeper Patrick Matasi, Dennis Sikhayi, Jockins Atudo, Musa Mohammed, Wesley Onguso, Patillah Omotto, Duncan Otieno, Whyvonne Issuza, Samuel Onyango, George Odhiambo and Masud Juma. After the clash against Libya, the Stars will entertain Zanzibar at the same venue this Saturday.
The last time Kenya hosted the tournament in 2013, Harambee Stars went on to win it by beating Sudan two goals to nil in Nairobi.
