Uhuru returns from Kigali Northern Corridor Infrastructure Summit
President Uhuru Kenyatta has arrived back from Kigali, Rwanda where he attended the 6th Northern Corridor Integrated Infrastructure Summit.
The plane carrying the President and his entourage touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly before 3.00 p.m. and was received by senior Government officials led by the Chief of Defence Forces General Julius Karangi.
President Kenyatta later met security chiefs in a brief session at the JKIA.
While in Kigali, President Kenyatta launched the East Africa Exchange (EAX), a new project under the Northern Corridor Integration projects.
The electronic trading platform will enable buyers and sellers to connect throughout the region and also create a broader access to markets and the global economy.
The launch was witnessed by Presidents Paul Kagame (Rwanda), Yoweri Museveni (Uganda), and Salva Kiir of S. Sudan.
President Kenyatta also joined three other regional Heads of State for the 20th National Liberation day of Rwanda at Amahoro Stadium, Kigali.
The day is commemorated in remembrance of the Rwandans killed during the 1994 genocide.
