Volleyball Federation releases squad for world qualifiers

Kenya has been tipped favorite to host the qualifiers in Nairobi

The Kenya Volleyball Federation has released the Provisional squads for both Men and Women ahead of the World Championship qualifiers slated for next month.

Kenya has been tipped favorite to host the qualifiers in Nairobi.

Reigning African queens Kenya Prisons and archrivals Kenya Pipeline commands a large share in the women’s provisional squad of 25 players.

Jane Wacu, Janet Wanja and Farida Efumbi have been called up in the setters position. The left attackers are Mercy Moim, Asha Makuto, her younger sister Everlyn Makuto and Gaudencia Makokha.

The center position has Brackcides Agala, Diana Khisa, Ruth Chepngetich and Joan Chelagat.

Esther Wangeci leads the Right attackers position alongside Loice  Jepkosgei and Violet Makuto.

Elizabeth Nafula will square it out with Agripina Kundu for the Libero position.   Edith Wisa, Flora Jemtai, Joy Lusenaka and Lincy Jeruti also made the squad.

In the men’s category, Elisha Aliwa will fight it out with Daniel Kiptoo, Laban Simiyu and Nicholas Langat  in the setters position.

The center players are led by Sila Makiso, Wesley Rono, Simon Kimeli, and Martin Kimondo.

Phillip Maiyo who plies his trade in Bulgaria will lead the right attackers alongside Ibrahim Oduor, David Kirwa and Evans Bera.

The battle for the Libero position will be between veteran  Faustin Baraza,  Alex Kariuki and Peter Kibata.

The players were selected after the completion of the second leg  of the Kenya volleyball federation league in Nyeri last weekend.
