World Aids marathon to be held on Friday

The 13th edition of World Aids marathon, a run that is held in a bid to raise awareness that AIDS sufferers globally must have access to AIDS medicine, will be held at the lake side City of Kisumu, on Friday.

The marathon attracts participants from different parts of the World.

Over 3000 participants are expected to feature in the World Aids marathon that will be held at Jomo Kenyatta Sports grounds in Kisumu City.

The race which is organized every year in order to celebrate HIV Aids victims in the world is aimed at helping victims maintain a healthy lifestyle and overcoming stigma.

As it has been the custom, the organizers of the marathon will also involve a half marathon, relays, disabled race, three kilometer walk for HIV children, HIV related activities and an exhibition.

Richard Brodsky, the founder of this event is expected to feature in the marathon.

The marathon is held every year on 1st December as the World Aids Day is also celebrated.

The race gives an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness.
