Eleven people lost their lives Monday evening after the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in an accident along the Eldoret- Eldama Ravine Road.
The driver of the 14-seater matatu who succumbed to his injuries on arrival at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital is said to have been speeding when the accident occurred.
According to witnesses, the driver of the matatu who died on arrival at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital lost control of the vehicle, which rolled several times in an accident that left three others nursing serious injuries.
Five Chiefs were among 11 people who died in the tragic accident.
Seven of the victims died at the scene while three others including two sub-chiefs died of their injuries on their way to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
Police reports indicate the vehicle rolled on a steep section of the road that is in bad shape due to potholes.
