World 1,500m champion Timothy Cheruiyot is eyeing to run another world leading time at the last leg of the Diamond League circuit in Doha,Qatar on 25th September.
Cheruiyot has nearly managed a sub 3:30 this season registering 3:28:48 a world leading time on his way to victory at the opening Diamond league meeting in Monaco in August then followed it up with an impressive 3:30:25, a sub 3:30 performance that he is eager to surpass in Doha .
’’Right now my body has responded well to training, depending on the quality of the field I could as well run another World leading time’’ said Cheruiyot.
Cheruiyot however revealed that he is missing his training partner former world champion Elijah Manangoi who is flagged by Athletes Integrity Unit,AIU, for whereabouts failures,an anti-doping violation.
‘It has been difficult in training,we are used to each other in training, he used to do the sprints session the 400m and 200m while I led the endurance sessions, we wish him all the best ’ said the reigning commonwealth champion.
After the Doha Diamond league Cheruiyot will be looking to closing the season at home with the Nairobi Continental Tour set for October 3rd in Nairobi.
Meanwhile the revised 2020 Diamond league circuit enters the penultimate round Thursday 17 Sept.2020 with the Rome Meeting.
A total of 14 track events will be on card.
After the Naples meet,the season which saw a number of legs cancelled following the global outbreak of Corona Virus pandemic culminates in Doha next weekend.
