17 arrested in connection with attack on Raila in Eldoret

At least 17 persons have been captured and taken to police custody following an attack on Azimio la Umoja Presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga on Friday in Uasin Gishu County.

Just a few hours after Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i ordered a manhunt for suspects of the attack, the National Police Service disclosed Saturday afternoon that huge progress has been made to identify and bring to book those who might have orchestrated the stoning of former PM’s motorcade and helicopter in Kabenes.

“NPS wishes to inform the public that 17 suspects have been arrested and helping with investigation,” Police spokesperson Bruno Shioso said.

According to Shioso, the suspects were found in possession of cash money in Ksh.50 denominations, including mobile phones which are aiding with forensic analysis.

“The NPS reminds all that it is the right of every citizen to visit any part of the country. We call upon political leaders and their supporters to accord accommodation and tolerance to each other including those of divergent views and opinions during this period of electioneering,” Shioso said in conclusion
