The national women’s volleyball team , Malkia Strikers, will be the first to depart for Japan ahead of the Olympics Games slated July 23rd-August 7th in Tokyo.
Malkia Strikers is set to depart this Thursday for Kurume City where they will camp before joined by the second batch on 9th July.
The men’s rugby team has also been split into two with the first squad set to depart for the games on 9th July while the second batch will travel a day later whereas the women’s rugby side, Lionesses will leave for the games on 11th and 12th July.
According to the communiqué by the National Olympic Committee of Kenya, NOC-K sprinters are expected to leave on July 13th and will be followed by Taekwondo, Beach Volleyball, Boxing and Swimming.
The rest of the athletics contingent will depart in six phases between July 23-27th with Marathoners and Race Walk athletes leaving on August 1st.
This will be the fifteenth appearance by Kenya at the Olympic Games and will be represented by a total of 85 athletes across five sporting disciplines.
