Tokyo 2020: Tough draw for Malkia as group opponents revealed

The national women’s volleyball team ‘Malkia Strikers’ will only require to secure a single win out of five games to advance to the second round of the 2020 Olympic Games due 23rd July – 7th August, 2021 in Tokyo,Japan.

Kenya is pooled in group A alongside hosts and two time Olympic champions Japan,2008 and 2012 Champions Brazil, Serbia, Korea and Dominican Republic.

Malkia Strikers will be gunning to make it out of the group stages for the first time in their third appearance at the Games. Kenya finished 11th at the 2000 and 2004 games in Sydney and Athens respectively.

The Paul Bitok led charges take on hosts Japan in their opening match on 25th July, 2021 before facing Korea two days later.

Malkia will then play 2016 Rio Olympic losing finalists Serbia on 29th July, 2021 Beijing and London games winners Brazil gunning for record 3rd title will be next test for Kenya on 2nd August before winding up her group A campaign against Dominican Republic who will also be making their third appearance in their Olympic Games history.
