Thirty athletes who were selected to represent Kenya in the 3rd edition of the World relay championship are scheduled to report to camp tomorrow at a Nairobi hotel.
The championship is slated for 22nd – 23rd of this month at the Thomas Robinson stadium in Nassau, Bahamas.
The athletes who were selected last Sunday at the Kasarani stadium in the final day of the national relay series will be aiming to post good results after bagging only two silver medals in 2015 championship.
The 4x 400m women team comprises of Jacinta Shikanda, Veronicah Mutua, Grace Kidake, Everlyne Makena, Catherine Nandi, Daisy Komen and Betty Chelagat while the 4x200m men team comprises of Ferdinand Omanyala, Collins Omae, Peter Mwai, Mike Mokamba and Mark Otieno.
Maximila Imali, Damaris Akoth, Peris Chege, Patricia Isich and Mary Tanui will take part in the 4x200m women’s race.
Fergusson Rotich, Bett Kipyegon, Alfred Kipketer,Cornelius Tuwei and Timothy Kitum will make up the 4x800m men’s team.
United States won the last edition held in Bahamas in 2015 with a total of 16 medals.
Jamaica finished second with a total of 10 medals while Kenya finished third with a total of six medals, three Gold and three Silver while Nigeria came in 4th with a total of two medals.
