36 Kenyan fishermen arrested for trespassing into Tanzanian waters

Tanzanian authorities have arrested 36 Kenyan fishermen and confiscated their gear for allegedly trespassing into its territorial waters.

The fishermen including six children are currently being held at Sota police station in Musoma.

Muhuru MCA Hevron Maira is now pleading with the East African Community to intervene in the matter saying the neighboring country should not be harsh to Kenyans.

Maira also want the Kenyan government to act tough on fishermen trespassing into the country’s territorial waters given that the neighboring countries have not embraced the culture of god neighborhood.

The  arrest  of the 36 comes barely a  day  after the deputy president William Ruto’s  while on a tour  of Migori  county promised the fishing community that the Kenyan  government  is committed to finding a  solution  to the Migingo  island  row with Uganda.

Elsewhere, police in Nakuru are investigating the circumstances under which a police officer killed his lover before taking his own life.

28 year old Cornelius Taalam, attached to Piave Police base is said to have shot his 22 year old lover Eunice Wambui before taking his own life following a disagreement.

There is scanty information as to why 28 year old Cornelius Taalam, attached to Piave Police shot his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself.

Nakuru County Police Commandant Hassan Barua said detectives had not established the motive behind the constable’s actions.

The two who were residing in a one bed-roomed police quarters at Piave are said to have just moved in together for the last three months.

Residents who thronged the post expressed shock at the incident, as the two were well known lovebirds who never exhibited signs of conflict.
