Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has sacked five senior county government officers for alleged involvement in corrupt practices and gross misconduct.

malombeCiting persistent allegations made by trade, civic and youth organizations linking certain county officials to corruption Kitui Governor Malombe has cracked the whip, sacking the five.

The officers have been accused of repeatedly demanding bribes from contractors as a precondition for awarding tenders in addition to scheming with service providers to process and make payments for undelivered goods.

Malombe lamented that corruption has held back growth in the County and warned that his administration will not condone the vice.

The now vacant positions have been filled in acting capacity.

This comes as President Kenyatta, in his Jamhuri day speech, went on a scathing attack of all strongholds of corruption, vowing to step up the fight against Kenya’s biggest perceived national blemish.
