5 year old rescued from abusive stepmother in Kilifi

A five year old boy has been rescued from his abusive stepmother in Kilifi County.

The boy was found to have sustained numerous injuries to his body- burns and cuts all over.

The alleged assailant, his stepmother, however denied the allegations, alleging instead, that the child’s injuries came from rough games with neighbourhood children.

According to locals, the woman had shown no remorse in her actions after being confronted by concerned neighbours, propelling the neighbors to raise alarm and leading to the intervention of the authorities.

A local social worker, Naomi Kazungu of the Malindi Child Protection Center, who led the operation to rescue the young boy promised a safe environment as the state takes custody of the minor.
