Over 50 families of Ngoingwa estate on the outskirts of Thika town, Kiambu County, are counting losses after they were displaced by flash floods.
The residents had to vacate their prestigious homes after flood waters waded into their residences carrying along snakes and dangerous insects.
Some tried to salvage what they could, by transporting perishable foods to their neighbors residences.
Most of the families around Ngoingwa 7th Avenue kept vigil as they attempted to sweep out torrents of water that had waded into their houses.
They are attributing the flooding to poor drainage system.
The residents are now worried there could be an outbreak of water borne diseases, calling on the county government of Kiambu to move with speed to arrest the situation.
They say the water levels have risen to dangerous levels in their homes, and are afraid that electrical wires may get submerged in the water.
Predictions by the weather man indicate that up to 22 counties across the country will continue to receive heavy rainfall.
