The Government, through the National Land Commission has finalized the process of compiling a total of 7, 232 title Deeds for the controversial  Mwea Settlement Scheme located in Mbeere Sub-County in Embu County.

Beneficiaries are set receive their ownership documents once the process is finalized After years of wrangles in the controversial Mwea settlement scheme, beneficiaries will soon have a reason to smile as the government embarks on a process of issuing them with title deeds.

Embu County Land Executive Josphat Kithumbu says all technical and legal mechanisms that guide issuance of titles deeds including public participation have been exhausted.

Kithumbu while speaking in Siakago Mbeere North Sub-County when he unveiled the genuine register disclosed that plans are at an advanced stage and the beneficiary will soon be settled.

The latest development comes amid claims of the existence of a parallel Register compiled by the CDF office and which has been circulated by those opposed to the issuance of Title Deeds.

Chairmen of Mbeere, Kirinyaga, Mwea and Embu, Easton Nyaga, Jeram Kiama, Gicangi and Kitaka respectfully affirmed that they have since scrutinized the list of Beneficiaries in the Register that has also been sanctioned by the National Land Commission and have found that it reflects the true position of the wishes of their communities.

A representative of the Mbeere ACK Bishop Rev Gachukia and other religious groups participated in the verification exercise as well as other interested stakeholders.
