Kenya cricket team underperformes in Namibia

It’s back to the drawing board for the National Cricket team following a dismal performance in the ICC Cricket World Cricket league Division two tournament in Windhoek, Namibia.

The Thomas Odoyo’s charges lost all her group matches in the event and consequently failed to book a place in next month’s ICC World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe.

The Kenyan team was seeking to qualify for the ICC World Cup for the first time since 2011 when they were eliminated in the group stages after failing to win a single match.

The event in Namibia which brought together six teams offered the Kenyan team coached by Thomas Odoyo a second chance to qualify for the World Cup after a dismal performance during the ICC World Cricket league which culminated last December.

However, the team faced a stiff challenge in the competition, losing all her group matches. They opened their campaign with a 219 runs lose to United Arab Emirates, then beaten by Canada by 59 runs in their second match.

In other matches they were beaten by 3 wickets by Nepal then lost by 2 wickets to Oman on Wednesday.

Nepal and the UAE have now qualified for the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018 in Zimbabwe after finishing first and second respectively in the World Cricket league division 2 standings. The ICC World Cup will be held next year in England and Wales.
