Fashion, environmental awareness and social responsibility combine as leading active-wear brand, Adidas, reveals its shoes made from ocean waste …

Renowned fashion brand, Adidas, released the first shoe – made entirely from ocean waste – into the market this week.

The trainer is made in conjunction with Parley, an organisation raising awareness against ocean pollution.

It boasts an upper composed of 95% ocean plastic. In addition, it features several other parts made from material retrieved during Parley’s operations in the Maldives.

The colour and styling of the shoe is also reminiscent of ocean waves.

The launch of the Ultraboost Ucaged Parley marks the first step in Adidas’s commitment to manufacture a million pairs of shoes that are made from ocean plastic by the end of next year.

In addition, soccer clubs Bayern Munich and Real Madrid will also debut soccer jerseys comprising ocean waste in late November.
