AFC in third position after beating Mathare 4-3

Mathare United’s unbeaten run in the Kenyan Premier League came to an end after suffering a 4-3 loss against AFC leopards in an enthralling encounter played at Machakos County Stadium.

Cliff Nyakeya fired Mathare United into the lead barely seven minutes into the game.

Ingwe pulled level 11 minutes later through Bernard Marita.

Fredrick Omondi  struck Mathare’s second via a Penalty kick as Nyakeya scored his second in the match and Mathare’s  third as Duncan Otieno scored Ingwe’s second to hand Mathare the 2008 KPL champions 3-2 lead heading into the breather.

Edwin Odera’s strike and Marvin Nabwire’s lob in the second half ensured that Ingwe grabbed the vital win to move upto third place on the log with 10 points.

Elsewhere Sofapaka dropped two points to drop to fourth place after being held to a barren draw by Kariobangi Sharks at Machakos County Stadium.

Sofapaka now lies 4th on the standings with 10 points while Sharks is placed fifth a point a drtift.

Ulinzi Stars  won their second straight match beating Kakamega Homeboys 1-0 to move to third.
