Al-Shabaab commander killed in Kuday, Somalia

Al-Shabaab Commander Bashe Nure Hassan has been killed by the Kenya Defense Forces in Somalia after a “failed” militant attack a Somali National army base in Kuday area.

Al Shabaab Commander was among two terrorists killed during the attack at the Somali National army base. During the attack three AK-47 rifles, eleven magazines and 290 rounds of ammunition were recovered.

A statement from the Kenya Defence Forces said the attack occurred at 3 am at a location adjacent to the AMISOM and KDF bases.

Col Joseph Owuoth of the KDF Public Affairs office says three AK-47 rifles, eleven magazines, a satellite phone and 290 rounds of ammunition were recovered during the security operation.

Owuoth says there were no casualties on the KDF soldiers and their Somali counterparts during the attack.

According to the Defense force Nure is a Kuday resident who was born and raised in the area before joining the terrorist group several years back.

The Kenya Defense Forces says it will remain vigilant and will continue to relentlessly pursue the terrorists to ensure peace and security of the national and its borders as well as support AMISOM operations to stabilize Somalia.
