All set for Enterprise Cup quarter finals and Mwamba Cup semis

The Enterprise Cup, the longest running rugby competition in Kenya and East Africa as a whole enters the Quarterfinal stage this Saturday with four matches in four different venues.

The defending champions, Menengai Cream Homeboyz RFC were knocked out of the competition in the prequarter finals stage by the Kenya Harlequins.

Quins will host Kenyatta University’s Blakblad at the RFUEA Grounds, their next door neighbours, Resolution Impala Saracens welcome the Stanbic Mwamba.

Impala were finalists in last year’s Enterprise Cup going down 3-21 to Homeboyz. In the semifinal stage, Impala had shut Kabras Sugar RFC out of the final beating them 16-13 in Kakamega.

Kabras RFC host Nondies at the Kakamega ASK Showgrounds in the third quarterfinal. The Tatu City Nondies beat the Menengai Oilers 19-7 in Nairobi to progress to the quarterfinal stage while Kabras RFC earned a walk over in the pre-quarterfinal stage after Mombasa RFC were unable to honour the fixture.

The last Enterprise Cup quarterfinal sees KCB host Top Fry Nakuru RFC at the Lion’s den in Ruaraka. Nakuru displayed an emphatic performance in the pre-quarterfinal stage beating Western Bulls 71-7 at the Nakuru Athletics Club. Hat tip to Bulls for being the only Championship side to make it this stage in the Enterprise Cup.

KCB’s pre-quarterfinal fixture against Kisii was as that of Kabras and Mombasa RFC.

All Enterprise Cup matches kick off at 4:00pm in their respective venues.

The Mwamba Cup semifinals sees Defending Champions Strathmore Leos face Top Fry Nakuru at the Cage while Kabras meet Menengai Cream Homeboyz. Kabras beat KCB 15-11 in the quarterfinals while Homeboyz beat Impala Saracens 35-17.

Strathmore Leos edged Kenya Harlequin Arturos out with a 23-17 win as Nakuru beat Stanbic Mwamba 38-7.
