Alphajiri talk writing relatable lyrics and surviving COVID

The duo also took the time to sing Shiksha a “Happy Birthday” song.

Alphajiri is a duo made up of Brandon Ochieng and Paul Kalbanaz, who formed the group in 2015. They are both vocalists, songwriters and performers.

Armed with a guitar and a great set of pipes, the duo sang a “Happy Birthday” song for Easy Friday host and birthday girl, Shiksha Arora, during their Friday interview. Proving, without a doubt, their glorious ability to create harmony on the spot.

The duo’s most recent song “Like You” which comes a year after their collaboration with Tanzanian crooner Kidum, showcases their ability to write love songs that resonate with their listeners. Both songs are available to stream on digital platforms.

In this interview with Shiksha, the duo talk about their songwriting process, the importance of writing relatable lyrics, future collaborations and surviving the pandemic.
