US musician Kelis Rogers, better known monomously as Kelis, is in Kenya.

The musician recently appeared in a now-viral video as she tried to navigate the chaotic Nairobi streets.

Sharing the video on her Instagram, the musician said, “Pedestrians do not have the right of way (here), you better move fast and look both ways…Be aggressive”

The “Milkshake” singer has been touring some African countries; she shared a video of herself shopping at a Zanzibar market, recently, before her arrival in Kenya.

The Grammy-nominated has added more professions to her repertoire since her debut album in 2007.

She has appeared on an episode of The Masked Singer, is a Cordon Bleu chef and said she was making plans to open a restaurant using the produce from her farm.

It is on her 10-hectare (24-acre) farm where she spends most of her time and sells most of her organic products.

In a 2020 interview in which she spoke about her music career, she spoke about the unscrupulous ways in which the music industry takes advantage of young musicians. This, she said is what precipitated her departure and her fallout with music legend Pharell.

“I was told we were going to split the whole thing 33/33/33, which we didn’t do,” she said. “Their argument is: ‘Well, you signed it.’ I’m like: ‘Yeah, I signed what I was told, and I was too young and too stupid to double-check it.’”

Kelis has since slowly eased back into touring beginning with her 2020 Kaleidoscope anniversary world tour.

She is, however, currently “cooking abroad” by visiting markets across the continent.
