Arsenal face Liverpool in season curtain raiser

FA Cup winners Arsenal face premier league Champions Liverpool this evening in a charity Community Shield match at Wembley Stadium.

The action will be beamed live on KBC Channel 1 starting at 6:30pm. Arsenal are out to continue with their resurgence under new boss Mikel Arteta, a winner of the community shield twice as a player.

The gunners head into the game bouyed by the likely signing of an extension contract by their talisman and captain Pierre-emerick Aubemayang who was an important part in their successful FA run.They face a Liverpool side that won the English premier league title on 99 points ,however arsenal was just one of the 3 sides that inflicted defeat to Jurgen Klopps men.

Liverpool warmed up for the tie by taking part in two friendlies in Austria where they took on RB Salzburg and…While Arsenal beat MK Dons on Tuesday. Klopp is likely to miss the services of Jordan Hernderson, Joel Matip, Alex-Oxlaide Chamberlain, Harry Wilson, Xerdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi.

The match will see players take to their knee before kick off in order to show solidarity to the black community and to highlight inequalities

Arsenal have won the community shield 15 times with the last triumph coming in 2017 while Liverpool who share the same number of victories as the gunners in the competition will bid for their first shield title in 14 years.
