Arsenal-Sportpesa coaches training programme begins

Football coaches in the country have landed a rare opportunity to be trained by tacticians from English Premier League side Arsenal who are in the country for a week long training programme.

The Arsenal-Sportpesa training programme begun Monday in Nairobi and is expected to end on Friday.

After the completion of the Sportpesa Premier League and other lower division football leagues in the country, coaches of several clubs are attending a week long training programme which hopes to develop the psychological approach to football matches.

The training programs are part the country’s target of sending the national soccer team Harambee Stars to the 2022 world cup in Qatar, and will be conducted annually to both coaches and players.

Meanwhile the government’s project to upgrade the existing sports stadia in the country and build new ones is expected to begin early next year with a new rugby stadium expected to be built in Nairobi.

The sports grounds were part of the projects of the Jubilee government which came to power in 2013.
