Athletics Kenya has suspended clearance and travel to international events for athletes and their support personnel until further notice.
This is in line with a directive from the Government of Kenya to ban all international meetings in the Country for a month as a precautionary measure against Coronavirus.
In a statement Athletics Kenya said, “Following a directive from the Government of Kenya and due to the global outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, Athletics Kenya has suspended all clearance and travel to international events for athletes and athlete support personnel until further notice.”
Athletics Kenya has further urged athletes to cancel travel arrangements for the next one month pending further communication in a bid to safeguard them from the virus.
Meanwhile Nyandarua County has initiated plans to establish isolation wards at JM Kariuki Memorial Hospital in Ol Kalau and other hospitals across the County.
This after Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe urged Counties to enhance surveillance and be ready for any arising cases.
County Commissioner Boaz Cherutich said the County is ready to combat any emerging case of the CoVID 19, saying they have put in place teams to help in the same.
The administrator called on the residents to observe high hygiene standards by washing their hands all the time and report any cases of flu and respiratory diseases for medication.
While announcing the establishment of the County Emergency Response team on Corona Virus, Cherutich noted that there were no cases reported in the area but urged the team to be on high alert.
