Aussems concerned about the quality of Thika stadium ahead of Wazito tie

FKF Premier League side AFC Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems has expressed his concerns over the quality of Thika stadium ahead of their clash against Wazito FC on Sunday.

Leopards who put up a classy show, thrashing Kenya Police FC 3-0 at the Nyayo National Stadium last weekend will be hoping to build on the same momentum when they play against the Fred Ambani-led team.

” My players’ football style fits well equipped playing facilities like Nyayo and Kasarani but it’s so unfortunate with the current state we’ve to do with what’s available like Ruaraka,Utalli grounds and Thika stadium where we’re headed for our league assignment this Sunday. Regardless, we are looking forward to another great performance because my boys are at upto the task” he said

The 56-year-old Belgian tactician, who joined the den in February last year has further urged the team management to retain 90 percent of the current players if they have to compete for the title next season.

The former Simba SC tactician who signed a two-year contract with Ingwe has his job well cut out with his main task in the future being to lead the team to win the Football Kenya Federation Premier League title for the first time since 1998.

“I like my players because they have massive potential and it’s my hope the club management keeps majority of these players to help us go for the title next season. This squad is well blended and if well supported they can go places” added Aussems.

The first choice goalkeeper Levis Opiyo who is still nursing an injury is optimistic of a bright future at the den saying with the current chemistry in the playing unit, the team is destined for greatness ahead.

“Most of us joined this team and some of the players we found here have left and those who have remained have put in hard work and sacrificed alot to help this team achieve its set goals and if we’re kept together like our coach said we’ll do better” Opiyo told KBC Digital Sports

Leopards who have parted ways with three players in Collins Shichenje moving to Sweden with Marvin Nabwire and Dan Musamali in Police training are currently lying on position 10 with 31 points from 23 number of games.
