Autopsy reveals Msando was tortured, strangled to death

The late Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ICT Manager Chris Msando was tortured and then strangled to death, a post mortem on his body has revealed.

The autopsy was conducted at the Lee Funeral Home by Government Chief Pathologist Johansen Oduor and Bessie Byakika on behalf of the family.

It was witnessed by detectives investigating the case as well as family representatives.

Dr Oduor said that strangulation was the cause of death.

He said the late Msando’s body had deep scratches on the back, indicating the body was either dragged on a rough surface or scratched.

His right hand had deep cuts giving an indication of severe torture using a very sharp object.

It is not clear if a post-mortem has been conducted on the body of Maryanne Wairimu Ngumbu aged 21, who was with Msando on the fateful night.

Meanwhile, acting interior Cabinet Secretary Dr.Fred Matiang’i has warned against speculations on the murder of Msando saying that investigations are underway and perpetrators will be brought to book.

While addressing the press in Nairobi, Matiang’i said politicians in seeking their selfish ends should not make Kenyans have suspicious on IEBC and security agencies.

He further warned those fond of using social media to spread rumors and propaganda that action will be taken against them.

He expressed confidence that the electoral agency will deliver on their mandate.

His sentiment was supported by the government spokesperson Erick Kiraithe who warned politicians from whipping public emotion for the selfish agendas.

Police have reportedly arrested three people in connection with the killing of Msando and his female companion.
