The Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has threatened to boycott the August elections if the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) does not provide the manual back up voter register.
Speaking while on tour of Kiambu, with rallies in Ruiru, Kabete, Wangige, Githunguri and finally in Gatundu, Raila wants the electoral body to avail a manual register alongside the electronic register in every polling station to ensure the elections are credible.
“Manual register is a must at every polling station. It is not negotiable and we are telling the IEBC that manual registers are a must along with biometric identification of voter’s failure to which there will be no elections,” Odinga said.
Raila said to participate in the elections, the IEBC must provide a manual register as a back up in every polling station.
Raila insisted the provision of manual register as a backup is the only way to ensure the elections are foolproof and credible.
Raila promised to prioritize the war against corruption terming it as a key threat to Kenya’s prosperity.
To this end, Raila said he will task his running mate Martha Karua with leading the war against vice.
The Azimio leaders warned the electorate against voting in tainted leaders with questionable past.
