Bandits kill one, injure two in Samburu North

One person has been shot dead and two others injured after they were attacked by suspected bandits at Silcon area along Soth Horr-road in Samburu North.

The deceased who was driving a probox car that was transporting miraa towards Baragoi town died on the spot after being hit by the bullet.

The passenger in the vehicle escaped with serious injuries.

The driver of another vehicle that was behind them Antony Githinji Mwangi narrowly escaped death but suffered serious injuries after bullets were sprayed at his vehicle.

The robbers stole Mwangi’s cash and food stuff of unknown during the incident. Mwangi said the robbers allowed them to proceed with their journey after the attack warning them against reporting the incident to authorities.

A resident Hillary Muriuki said five vehicles had been attacked along the road for the past two days but government had done nothing to restore security. Locals are calling upon the government to beef up security along the road.

Area police commander Samson Ogelo says police officers are pursuing the bandits.
