Baringo chiefs dismissed for misconduct

Two chiefs from Baringo County have been dismissed and another suspended for sabotaging government programmes.

County commissioner Henry Wafula says the government will not hesitate to sack officers who are grossly inept as well as those out to frustrate its policies.

According to County commissioner Henry Wafula, one chief from Tiaty constituency was arrested for abetting cattle rustling while the other who is from Salabani area of Marigat Sub County was suspended for teaming up with area MCA to incite residents of Kambi Samaki to boycott the just concluded national population and housing census.

Speaking at Kabarnet Rehabilitation Centre, when he launched 30 days Rapid Result Initiative for registration of persons, Wafula directed chiefs and their assistants drawn from Kabarnet, Salawa and Tenges divisions to mobilize residents who have lost their identity cards and youth who have attained the age of 18 years to register.

The exercise, which will be carried out in the seven sub-counties will run up to October 4.
