Barno, Kiptoo win Grandma’s Marathon in Minnesota

Kenya’s Elisha Barno successfully defended his title after winning the men’s race during the 40th edition of the annual Grandma’s Marathon in Minnesota, United states.

Barno finished the course with a time of 2 hours 11 minutes and 26 seconds, one minute ahead of his compatriot, Weldon Kirui, who finished  second with a time of 2 hours 12 minutes and 26 seconds.

Benjamin Kiplimo Meto, won the men’s masters division, finishing 15th overall with a time of 2  hours 21 minutes and 59 seconds.

Kenya’s Sarah Kiptoo, claimed the women’s title after completing the 42 kilometre race in a time of 2 hours 33 minutes and 29 second.

Serkalem Abrha of Ethiopia and Clara Santucci  finished second and third respectively.  Barno earned  one million shillings for the victory plus a 200,000 shillings bonus for finishing in under 2 hours 12 minutes.

Kiptoo earned one million for the victory plus a 125,000 shillings bonus for finishing in under 2 hours  and 34 minutes.
