Bars shut down in a move to contain Coronavirus

The government has shut down all BARS with effect from Sunday midnight until further notice.
Restaurants will however remain open but only for purposes of facilitating take away services.
Speaking during a press briefing Health Cabinet Secretary said this directives were  meant to secure the social distance requirement, noting the increased risk of transmission these facilities cause.

The CS further reiterated the orders issued on Friday on maintaining social distance in the public transport sector noting that all public service vehicles must adhere to the directive failure to which the respective Sacco licenses will be revoked.

The Inspector General of Police has already been directed to enforce this directive.

CS Kagwe also directed the suspension of all social gatherings in churches, weddings, birthdays, disco matangas noting that funeral services should not exceed more than 15 people.

These directives will take effect immediately until further notice.
