The body of a six year old child was Wednesday retrieved from the rubble of the Tebs Apartments building that collapsed Tuesday evening in Kericho County.
County Police Commander Silas Gichunge and Kenya Red Cross Society coordinator Sifia Tuwei retrieved the body in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
Two people are admitted to Kericho County Referral hospital and are said to be in stable condition.
The three-storey building collapsed Tuesday evening trapping several people. A tenant in the building Charles Kiplangat said that they had noticed cracks in the building and informed the proprietor who checked the building’s integrity.
Kericho Municipality, Municipal Manager Joseph Rotich urged tenants to be checking their environment to ensure their safety noting that, had the tenants been proactive they would have moved out in good time.
The three-storey residential building that housed six families started showing cracks on Sunday before slowly sinking and eventually collapsing Tuesday.
