Briton who allegedly killed girlfriend charged with murder

A British citizen who allegedly shot his girlfriend in Karen has been charged with murder.

Richard Alden, 53, was accused of allegedly shooting and killing 42-year-old Grace Wangechi at his home in Karen, Nairobi on June 4.

Appearing in court on Friday, the former Wananchi Group CEO pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Making the ruling, high court judge Stella Mutuku said it was proper to give the prosecution time to prepare for the application. He has been remanded until June 16 when his application for bail will be heard.

It had initially been reported that the woman had been playing with the firearm before she accidentally shot herself. .
