Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has come into the rescue of Ishmael Karuru, the 13 year old boy from Gikondi ward, Mukurwe-ini whose vicious assault had gone viral.
Karuru was assaulted over the weekend by a relative to the hospitable home where he had sought refuge after being beaten severely and chased away by his parents .
The boy has been admitted to Karatina Children’s Home. Karuru, who has now been christened ‘Moses’ joins 94 other children from the home and will be enrolled into one of the local primary schools as soon as he is fully recovered.
The Government will also follow up with the authorities to ensure that the perpetrator is brought to book.
Among those present to rescue the boy was the CECM -Youth, Gender and Social Services Esther Ndung’u, Gikondi Ward MCA Hon Mary Wamuyu, Nominated MCA Hon Beth Nyawira, Mr Irungu Children’s officer Mukurwe-ini, Mr Bernard Gichuki Chege from Mukurwe-ini and other Gikondi ward residents.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had appealed to the public to aid with any information which could potentially lead to a distraught boy whose safety was uncertain.
