BTS, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion win big at the AMAs

The event which took place on Sunday night was hosted by rapper Cardi B.

The American Music Awards or simply the AMAs took place on Sunday night featuring performances by first-time nominee Olivia Rodrigo, Måneskin, Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, Tyler, the Creator, Walker Hayes, Bad and Jennifer Lopez to mention a few. The highlight of the live performances, however, was Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak who opened the award show with music from their recent album, An Evening with Silk Sonic.

The big winners of the night were the South Korean boyband BTS who took home three awards including  Artist of the Year, along with awards for Favourite Pop Duo or Group and Favorite Pop Song for their hit single “Butter.”

Additionally, Lil Nas X who has been making the headlines this entire year took home the award for Favourite Music Video for his controversial video “Montero (Call Me by Your Name).

This year’s award ceremony resumed with a live format ceremony after a year of COVID restrictions.
