Buy Kenyan Products Campaign has been launched in Thika as local investors called for peaceful campaigns to reduce the high political temperatures experienced in Kiambu over the last months.
Led by Patrick Wainaina who is a local investor in Macadamia Jungle nut company ltd based in Thika and who was the chief quest during Thika Business community Exhibition, the investors said if we buy Kenyan made products we are promoting our own brothers and creating employment to the unemployed.
Wainaina said 80% of products in Kenyan supermarkets were imported thus a need for promoting Kenyan products. He further said this could not be realized in an environment where political temperatures were high saying leaders asking for political seats should preach peace at all times.
His sentiments were echoed by TNA co-ordinator Kiambu Gladys Chania who hit at the Kiambu County government saying charges for putting up bill boards had skyrocketed from ksh 5000 to 30,000.
She said this was hindering the small investors from investing in Kiambu saying the county government should be considerate.
They were speaking during the official opening of trade fair held at Mama Ngina gardens in Thika which will go on for 3 days.
