Canada Sevens: Shujaa face France in group opener

Kenya Sevens team shujaa will open their Canada Sevens campaign against France at 9.14 pm on Saturday in the 5th round of the 2017/2017 HSBC Sevens series.

Shujaa’s will then face Spain at 12.46am on Sunday Morning before playing their final pool match their other pool C opponents Fiji at 4.40am.

Shujaa who are 8th in the World Series Standings on 45 points picked up 10 points in the 5th leg of the HSBC World Sevens Series in Las Vegas, USA, two points short of their last performance in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Head Coach Innocent Simiyu said he had identified two key areas to work on in preparation of the Canada Sevens.

The Innocent Simiyu Charges are yet to make a semi-final appearance this season, and considering the group they are pooled in they will have to be at their best once again to make it count in Vancouver.

On the other hand, The Kenya Rugby Union in a statement has said it is yet to name its final squads for the men and women’s competitions at this year’s Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

“We have submitted names of over 20 players per team to the National Olympic Committee of Kenya for purposes of accreditation.”

“The numbers have been reduced to 18 per team as the coaches prepare to select their final teams closer to the competition” read the statement.

Defending Champions South Africa, top the standings with 92 points, 10 ahead of second placed New Zealand.

Former Champions Fiji are third with 79 points.
